Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. Immigration matters involve personal and often sensitive information, and we are committed to handling it responsibly, confidentially and in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law.

1.Introduction and Company Information

Canada Sweet Home ("Canada Sweet Home", "we", "us" or "our") is an immigration consulting business located in Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit our website, contact us, request a consultation or engage our services.

Office: 205D - 1803 60 St SE, Calgary, AB T2B 0M5. Email: info@canadasweethome.com. Telephone: +1 587-777-7111.

By using our website or providing personal information to us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2.Applicable Privacy Legislation

As a private-sector organization operating in Alberta, we handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where personal information is collected, used or disclosed across provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activity, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply.

Where applicable, we also observe the confidentiality obligations that apply to licensed immigration consultants under the code of professional conduct of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).

3.Types of Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact information — name, email address, telephone number and country of residence.
  • Inquiry and appointment details — the service you are interested in, your preferred consultation date and method, and any message you send us.
  • Client file information — if you become a client, information and documents needed to assess and prepare your application (see Section 4).
  • Technical information — limited information automatically transmitted by your browser, such as device type, browser type and pages visited, to the extent described in Section 11.

Our website forms do not ask you to upload identity documents. Please do not send sensitive documents through website forms unless we specifically ask you to.

4.Immigration-Related and Sensitive Information

Immigration matters often require sensitive personal information. If you engage our services, we may need to collect information such as passport and identity details, date and place of birth, marital and family status, education and employment history, financial information, travel and immigration history, language test results, medical or police certificate information, and — for refugee or humanitarian matters — information about personal circumstances, safety or hardship.

We collect sensitive information only where it is reasonably necessary for the service you have requested, and we handle it with a heightened level of care and confidentiality.

5.How We Collect and Use Personal Information

We collect personal information directly from you — through our website forms, email, telephone, in-person or online meetings, and documents you provide. With your consent, we may also receive information from authorized representatives, family members included in an application, or other parties you direct us to contact.

We use personal information to:

  • respond to inquiries and schedule, confirm, reschedule or cancel consultations;
  • assess your circumstances and explain possible immigration options;
  • prepare, submit and follow up on applications and related correspondence when you have retained us;
  • communicate with you about your matter;
  • maintain business, accounting and professional records; and
  • comply with legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

We do not sell personal information.

7.Sharing with Immigration Authorities and Authorized Third Parties

With your authorization, we may share personal information with:

  • Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), provincial nominee programs, and other government bodies relevant to your application;
  • designated organizations involved in your application, such as educational institutions, employers, language testing or credential assessment bodies, translators, commissioners for oaths and insurance providers;
  • professional advisers such as lawyers or accountants, where required; and
  • service providers who support our business operations, who are expected to protect the information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law, including in response to a lawful request, or to the CICC where required in connection with regulatory obligations.

8.Protection and Confidentiality

We take reasonable steps, appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying or modification. Access to client information is limited to those who need it to provide services or operate our business.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Please use caution when sending sensitive information by email.

9.Data Retention and Secure Disposal

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, and for any longer period required by applicable law, regulatory requirements or professional record-keeping obligations. When personal information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed, erased or anonymized.

10.International Data Processing and Transfers

Some of the service providers we use to operate our website, store data or communicate with you may process or store information outside Alberta or outside Canada. In those cases, personal information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. Many of our clients also reside outside Canada, so communications with you may cross borders. If you have questions about our use of service providers outside Canada, contact us at info@canadasweethome.com.

11.Cookies, Analytics and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary for the site to function properly. Our hosting provider may also collect basic, aggregated technical and usage information (such as page visits and browser type) to operate and improve the site.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect how parts of the website work.

12.Marketing Communications and CASL

We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We will send commercial electronic messages only where we have your consent or where consent is otherwise permitted by law. Consent to marketing is always separate from, and not a condition of, requesting a consultation or receiving services.

Every marketing message will identify Canada Sweet Home and include a way to unsubscribe. You may also opt out at any time by emailing info@canadasweethome.com. Service-related messages about your inquiry or file are not marketing messages.

13.Your Privacy Rights and Access Requests

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask how it has been used or disclosed, and request correction of information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

Please submit requests in writing to info@canadasweethome.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. In some cases access may be limited or refused as permitted by law, and we will explain why.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or, where PIPEDA applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

14.Third-Party Websites and Integrations

Our website contains links to third-party websites, including government websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

If you contact us by email, telephone or through third-party communication or video platforms, your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

15.Information Relating to Minors

Our website is not directed at children. Information about minors is generally collected only where they are included in an application, and is provided by a parent, legal guardian or other authorized adult acting on their behalf. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can address it.

16.Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated where required by law.
